BALANCED STONES 188

All the photographs are taken and edited by myself. I pretty much just clean up the contrast and brightness and occasionally play with the hue and saturation for a strange, dream-like effect. All the stones you see are only balanced without the aid of sand or glue or gum or magnets or rods or any of the many things people think I use to get the stones to stay standing. I do not stack stones. I free balance stones. I do not usually balance more than 3 stones because after 2 or 3 stones, they don't look like birds anymore and I really like the effect of birds. From a distance they really take on the appearance of birds, or your mind makes you see birds. It really is quite hypnotic. Any questions, feel free to ask anytime.

Thurs May 23rd Live Rock Balancing Display

I will be putting together a wonderful display of impossibly balanced stones (wind/weather permitting) in Downtown Vancouver on the shoreline between English Bay and Second Beach from 1pm until 9pm. Unfortunately, there will not be a candle display in the evening. Keep in touch to find out when the next candle display and rock balancing display will be happening. Hope to see you there. As you sit and gaze at the stones standing as if at attention, you are to identify (at your leisure) with one of them. One represents who you are and what you are, but only you can know which one of them is "you". When you associate with that stone, you must realize that one day, one moment, that stone will fall. And so you will too, so take in the moment and know that this life is temporary...all must fall so enjoy right now.
